I saw this movie a long time ago and i dont know the name. its about a college or high school guy..?

who wants to be an olympic gymnast ring champion but his legs get all paralyzed or something and then he meets this magical guy who helps him and teaches his stuff. hes like a genie or a god. i dont know. and then he manages to be back on his feet. can you help me?
