Why do so many people believe that if god exists he has a plan specifically for them?

Like my cousin's soon to be ex wife posted something on facebook about "I guess god has other plans for me..." and I'm thinking to myself "That is total bullshit, if theres a god, he created over 1 million people, no damn way he cares specifically about what happens to ONE person...We're all just a statistic." like really, you think he cares about everyone to the point that he chooses what happens in everyones life? Anyone else agree?
