Im 40 and am 2 weeks late.. Is it menopause or am I pregnant even though 2 tests came out negative?

I have had cramps off and on and feel like I will be getting my period any day now for 2 weeks. I've been running to the bathroom 5 or 6 times a day because I feel like I have it but I don't. I took a pregnancy test 4 nights ago and then 3 days later in the morning and they both came out negative. I have all the signs of getting my period, for instance, the irritability and the lower back cramping and feeling tired and lazy. If anyone else went through this or is going through this please let me know. Thank you =)
