I don't know what to do with my life?
Linguistics is the study of language, not languages. Linguists look at how people use language and try to find the rules that govern that use. Because linguistics touches so many areas of study, a minor in linguistics is useful for students majoring in English. You can pursue your love of writing and literature in your own language, and there is nothing "pathetic" about studying linguistics without yet having fully mastered another language. You can study philosophy and Russian and German without majoring or minoring in any of them. Relax. There is still time to decide.
